Hey all, I just bought an '85 944 yesterday, and it will be my first endeavor into the world of Porsches. In my test drive and on the drive home, there was an alarming amount of vibration from the engine at low RPM's. I know the engine mounts on the car are prone to failure on the exhaust side, so I suspect that is the problem. But now the others need to be replaced. I have a 2006 GTP 3.9L V6 w/ manual transmission. It is hard to find part numbers and reliable info through google, gmpartsdirect and rock auto. The part numbers for the front and rear trans mounts are: 22708441. 22708444. An engine mount is exactly what it sounds like: it holds the engine of a vehicle or piece of equipment in place. The engine and transmission of a vehicle are attached to one another. In many cases the engine mounts need to do more than just hold the engine to the chassis, they also need to absorb the energy (vibration) produced from the engine Vibration and a clunking sound are the two most noticeable symptoms when driving the vehicle. There are plenty of visible signs as well. Engine mounts connect the engine to the frame of the Tacoma. They also provide vibration dampening. It is essential to the operation of the vehicle that they are working properly. Motor Mount's replacement. I have a 02 Nissan xterra 3.3 4wd auto, its been a great truck but at 158xxx miles maintenance is starting to be more than usual, somethings i can do, other i take to the mechanic. Anyways i just got her out of the shop and the mechanic told me i need motor mounts and yeah he reved up the engine and it moves more than Replacing a motor mount always requires supporting the engine and/or transmission. The weight must be taken off the mount before it can be unbolted and replaced. This can be done with a floor jack from underneath, or with an engine hoist overhead. Mount access can also be a challenge on some transverse-mounted engines in front-wheel drive cars. 4jD1Gr4. pull the wheel and fold back the fender well so that you can get a good look at the mount. NOW, using a 2 x 4 as protection from the jack, lift the engine at the oil pan just an 1' or so. If the rubber is separated from the metal in the mount, you'll see the problem pretty easily. I went to Honda Dealer and replace all 3 Engine Mounts + 3 Tranny Mounts. They loosen all bolts of the mounts, start the engine, select to D And R gear, allows the engine to reseat themselves then retighten the bolts. But the vibration still persisted. I reliase that the vibration only came when the air-con compressor Kick-in. If i off the air Step 3 - Remove the motor mount brackets. The left and right motor mount brackets are held in place using three 17mm bolts. Loosen and remove them along with each bracket. The rear is tricky, using a elongated breaker bar remove the four 19mm bracket bolts. If you have access to a elbow adapter removing the bolts will become much easier. 3.Lower the engine using tool #8534, while guiding the mount and thru-bolt into the frame mounted support cushion brackets. 4.Install the thru bolt nut and tighten the nut to 95 Nm (70 ft. lbs.) torque. 5.Remove the engine support fixture tool #8534. 6.Lower the vehicle. 7.Install the viscous fan/drive assembly. Symptoms of a Bad Engine Mount. One of the first symptoms of a bad engine mount is visible physical damage. This can be seen during regular vehicle inspections. Look out for cracks, breakage, or excessive wear in the rubber portion of the mount. You may also notice fluid leaks in hydraulic fluid-filled mounts.
